Re: Minor Matters

He's back. Apparently he and his agent didn't find anyone interested in him, so why not return to the team that has put up with you all these years CLEVELAND -- Guardians former top prospect George Valera isn’t going anywhere. Last week, Valera was designated for assignment before he was officially ...

One free agent who could make sense for every team It’s time for our annual exercise in which we try to match up free agents with new teams. This list isn’t meant to serve as a prediction of what’s to come this winter, but rather a chance to try reading some tea leaves and connecting some dots. We c...

Re: Minor Matters

That's right. Thanks. I don't remember the distinction between DFA and nontender. Guys who are Designated generally remain within the organization, but I don't know the rules on when the player leaves team control. e.g. Can the Guardians keep Myles Straw on the Columbus roster just because they choo...

Re: Minor Matters

Bracho signed with the Dodgers. He never got beyond AA. Is Valera a minor league FA? IF not, he's still under our control in Columbus. Also, Reynald Delgado, another depth IF, was signed by the Brewers. He has much greater chance to stick: 24 year old, hit 275 with 791 OPA in AAA last year after a v...

Jim Callis at MLB.com Here are the top 30 prospects from the 2024 Arizona Fall League Do we get anyone other than DeLauter? I wouldn't think so. No. 2 on the list is the prdictable: 2. Chase DeLauter, OF, (Guardians No. 2 prospect/MLB No. 41) DeLauter also ranked second on this list a year ago and c...

Re: Articles

Looking at the roster, they certainly need to add starting pitchers, On the 40 man roster now, starters are Bibee Williams Lively Allen McKenzie Cantillo Nikhazy Espino the only 2 of those who were in the major league rotation all year in 24 were Bibee and Lively. Williams should be better. McKenzie...

Re: Minor Matters

Valera had much better stats in the low minors and then kept on running into walls, literally and figuratively.
We're not especially good at developing big bats especially for some reason outfielders. We'll see
Perhaps replacement for Florial, big flop pickup from the Yankees last year.

Re: Minor Matters

BA ANALYSIS The Cubs added a reliable, playoff-tested arm to their bullpen Wednesday when they acquired Eli Morgan from the Guardians. The Cubs ranked in the bottom third of the league in reliever WAR. Morgan provides the Cubs some length in middle relief, as he’s capable of getting four-to-six outs...

Re: Articles

OK with me if his year begins and ends in Lake County; what counts is his ability to refine his hitting approach. Front office has been more aggressive with taking on big swingers lately.

Rosario moves to No. 28 on the Guardians prospect list at MLB.com. Age 20 Hit grade 35: that's well below major league level Power: 55 Run: 60' Arm: 70 Field: 55 Overall: 40 He impressed with his physicality on the showcase circuit, though he also came with significant swing-and-miss concerns. Since...

Re: Minor Matters

We traded Eli Morgan? He's not great but he's been a nice middle reliever. Kind of surprised they're cutting back on bullpen depth but there's good reason to expectd Walters to be a major arm in the pen; perhaps Sabrowski can continue his great September; and they can hope Enright and/or Aleman with...
